From 18 August to 30 September 2020, Olsztyn-Mazury Airport in Szymany will host Astral Knight 2020 military exercises. During this time, Polish and American soldiers will be stationed at the airport.
Astral Knight 2020 is a joint, international exercise with the participation of Air, Infantry and Navy soldiers from the United States, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Sweden. As part of the exercises, soldiers will be trained in conducting integrated anti-aircraft and anti-missile defence of key areas. The training will also involve performing flights and exercises in virtual reality.
Olsztyn-Mazury Airport is one of many locations, where military exercises will be conducted simultaneously, including Poland and other European countries.
The planned military exercises will not affect air traffic passenger and General Aviation services at Olsztyn-Mazury Airport.
